About the Artist

Meriah Kruse

I was raised in a small town in rural Kentucky in the 50's, where there was almost zero art training, history, or appreciation to study or enjoy. Thus I came to the visual arts later in Life. However, I’ve been an artist of one kind or another most of my Life, as a dancer/choreographer, amateur singer, and now as a writer of short short fiction, essays, and copywriting for small businesses. I started my greeting card business in 2016 and several years later I began integrating my designs into other items such as you see here in my store.

Creating abstract paintings and collages composed from unique and precious papers sourced internationally brings me great joy. I especially love looking for patterns and meanings in the most abstract of them in much the same way I look for patterns in a sky strewn with white clouds or the patterns on a textured ceiling. I have a habit of seeing line drawings of human faces in nature, in the branches of trees, in a field of corn, in the patterns of ants making their way across an old banana peel, etc.

I invite my followers and customers to do the same!

Each design has a title, which is necessary for practical reasons, but you're invited to see whatever you see in these small bursts of color and form.

Recently I've begun inviting guest artists to join me here, and plan to continue doing so. I'm especially hopeful I can feature women artists from countries where making art is difficult, to continue celebrating the human spirit.
